St. Patrick’s Blog
Week of October 21st , 2013
We celebrated our Opening/Thanksgiving Mass this past week at St. Patrick’s.  Father Greg lead us in an examination of gratitude and a discussion around our Board theme: By our works we show our faith.  The celebration was made very special by the inclusion of a number of student volunteers from our youth group as well as our Glee Club lead by Mrs. Reilly.  In the spirit of faith celebrations, I would also like to extend our best wishes to those Muslim families in the St. Patrick’s community that celebrated Eid al-Adha this past week.
On Monday this week we have a group of students travelling to the War Museum in anticipation of our Remembrance Day observances next month.  The students and staff are looking forward to the opportunity to explore Canada’s role in activities that helped shape our country.
On November 19th St. Patrick’s students and staff will be participating in the 5th Annual 67’s School Day Hockey game.  This is a great community builder activity and we are hoping for full participation from our students.  The cost of a game ticket is $10 and Tuesday (Oct. 22nd) is the final day to bring money in to homebase teachers.  Students who are not participating will be involved in a regular academic program at the school.
Another great opportunity for our grade 8 students occurs this week.  On Wednesday morning, all grade 8 students will be participating in the WRK 4U2 (work for you too) activity at the Ernst & Young Centre by the airport.  Students are given a chance to tour through a number of different kiosks offering information about dozens of jobs.  Our vocational exploration began last week with a presentation by Skills Canada as a precursor to the WRK 4U2 event.
Have a great week!
Sean Kelly
