Lockdown Drill at St. Patrick's Intermediate School

I wanted to inform our parent and guardian community that we had a lockdown drill at the school this afternoon.  This is part of the expectation that we review the procedures with students and practice the approach so that all students and staff are comfortable with the process.  Students responded extremely well, recognizing that they must be quiet, and out of the view of classroom windows and doors.  The drill emphasizes the expectation that any threat at the school would be countered with locked school areas with no sound as to alert anyone to any populated classrooms.
Our administration, with the help of a local school resource officer Kevin McHale, released each class from lockdown and placed them in a "secure school" situation where students resumed quiet classroom activities until the drill was complete.
I would like to acknowledge the cooperation on the part of students, as well as the great preparation that our teachers extended to all individuals at the school.
Please contact the school if you have any questions regarding the process.
Thank you,
Sean Kelly
