St. Pat's Intermediate Blog March 26 to 30

This week marks Holy Week in the Roman Catholic Liturgical Calendar. Following weeks of personal reflection through Lent, we are asked to consider the importance of Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice to free us from the bonds of sin. While this is a Christian belief, we have spent much time these last 40 days drawing parallels to the inner reflection encouraged by multiple faiths. Reviewing our spiritual direction and setting personal goals for ourselves relates directly to what we are working on academically as well.  The steps to strengthening our faith are similar to those that clarify our academic direction. To be able to draw connections between our spiritual and personal development and our academic growth is one of the gifts of an education in the Catholic system.  I wish all of our families peace as you journey through this solemn period.

Information Night at St. Pat's High School
We had a really great turn-out for our information night at St. Pat's High School prior to the March Break. This night gave us a chance to meet families having students in grades 6 and 7. We are all very excited about our fall move to St. Pat's High School.

St. Pat's Intermediate March 5 to March 9

Shamrock Classic Boys' Basketball Tournament
On Wednesday we held another successful all-day basketball tournament at SPI.  Six teams participated and our students had a chance to watch the game during period 6.  Congratulations to Immaculata High School who won the trophy, fighting a hard game against St. FX in the finals.

OC Transpo Presentation
On Tuesday OC Transpo paid us a visit to discuss the new LRT line and rail safety overall.  This is the first of two presentations.  OC Transpo will be returning after the March Break to discuss our bus system as well as safety on the bus.  We are extremely grateful to our School Council for setting up these informative and necessary presentations.

March Break
Next week is March Break.  I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our community, whether travelling or staying here to enjoy all that Ottawa offers, a very restful and restorative break.
