St. Patrick’s Blog
Week of October 15th, 2013
I would
like to wish all our parent/guardian community a happy Thanksgiving.
A
number of recap’s from St. Patrick’s events from last week. First of all, I would like to congratulate
our boys and girls rugby teams on their success at their tournaments last
week. Our girls went to the semi-finals,
and our boys’ team won the championship!
Last Wednesday, we had Heather
from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) at the school for a presentation. The students viewed a very compelling video
highlighting the tragedy when individuals mix alcohol and driving. Our students were challenged to bring the
message to family and friends.
Our students did a great job
fundraising for our Terry Fox initiative.
Together, we raised more than $5000 for the Terry Fox foundation. Our efforts culminated in our walk on
Thursday that had our classes decked out in their homebase colours. The group looked great!
This Thursday, our grade 8’s will
participate in a Skills Canada session as a precursor to our Work for You Too
(Wrk4U2) day later in the month. These
opportunities encourage students to begin the discussion of what careers they
may be interested in in the future.
This week we will celebrate our rescheduled
Thanksgiving Mass with Father Greg. We
are looking forward to celebrating as a school community. Any parents or guardians who are available on
Friday at 10:00 am are welcome to join us.
Have a great week!
Sean Kelly
